Step-by-Step Guide
  1. Import the Animation Sequence
    Load your animation sequence into the project using the Read node.

  2. Import the Clean Plate (Static Frame)
    Import the clean plate (a frame without characters) using the Read node that will serve as the source for correcting defects.

  3. Create a Merge Node
    Add a Merge node to combine the animation sequence and clean plate:
    • Connect the animation sequence to the B input of the Merge node.

  4. Connect the Clean Plate to the Merge Node
    Attach the clean plate to the A input of the Merge node.
  5. Add a Roto Node
    Add a Roto (or RotoPaint) node in the clean plate branch. Configure the settings:
    • outputrgba
    • premultiplyalpha
  6. Connect the Mask from Merge to Roto Node
    To ensure the mask is applied correctly, pull the mask arrow from the Merge node and connect it to the Roto node.
  7. Draw Masks
    Use the Bezier tool in the Roto node to create masks that cover the defects in the animation.
    • Apply feathering to the edges of the masks for smooth transitions between the clean plate and the animation sequence.
    • If micro-movements shift over the sequence, animate the masks by adding keyframes in the Roto node to adapt the masks dynamically.
  8. Review the Results
    Preview the result in the viewer. Adjust the mask shapes or settings as needed to ensure a seamless final look.
